Program Philosophy

San Joaquin River Intertribal Heritage Educational Corporation promotes education and respect through academic lessons and experience. The primary goal of the program is cultural and environmental awareness. The intent of this experience is to encourage respect and promote positive behavior through tradition and education.

Our philosophy recognizes that hands-on education through individual and group experience has a more powerful and lasting effect on the community and participants. Participants with special needs will be carefully scheduled and guided through the educational process.

The San Joaquin River Intertribal Heritage Education Corporation offers services to the entire family. Our belief is that a family that plays together stays together. This educational concept can positively effect the entire family. The program stands on the philosophy that to get optimum results individuals must experience what they learn and participate in its process.

The birth of our vision began with the philosophy of touching the future through our history, coupled with education and positive personal experience. Our symbol represents the four directions and the circle of life. It expresses holism, the circle of all life and the connection of all things. Ecology, as taught and experienced through San Joaquin River Intertribal Heritage Educational Corporation, views man and the environment as a single system. Through this experience and a new awareness a sense of direction and commitment to positive behavior and the environment will be encouraged.
